Description: Dermatoscopy of nevus on shoulder. A starburst pattern is seen at the periphery of the lesion. These represent nests of cells. Usually the nests are symmetrical. The more asymmetrical the distribution the more you consider an evolving growing nevus or if multiple colours consider melanoma.
History: This lesion which has grown rapidly in the last 4 months on the knee of a 14 months old boy. Nothing there before. No other nevi whatsoever. No family history of abnormal nevi or melanoma.
