Description: Histology showing excess melanin at the bases of rete ridges. The rete are described as clubbed. Note the marked underlying solar elastosis

History:

This is lesion B on this man's back showing lines curved typical of a solar lentigo. In solar lentigo there is hyperpigmentation of the basal layer without nest formation but often with an increased number of melanocytes. There is extensive underlying solar elastosis.
