Description: Dermatoscope image Starburst pattern of peripheral dots and globules
History: This lesion which has grown rapidly in the last 4 months on the knee of a 14 months old boy. Nothing there before. No other nevi whatsoever. No family history of abnormal nevi or melanoma.
This lesion has a
-central lighter area + subtle bluish/grey areas(centrally)
-starburst pattern of tan + dark globules radiating out around the periphery.
These are classic features of spitz naevi.
Benign spitz naevi should be symmetrical + have symmetry of globules or streaks at all points along the periphery.
This lesion has asymmetry of the black globules at the periphery and ?should be excised.
