Description:

Spikules of pigment in a pseudonetwork

History:

These pigmented areas had been growing on his palm for 18 months. The condition is known as tinea nigra due to a mould found in the soil in tropical areas of Australia called Hortaea werneckii. There is very little inflamatory response to this fungus and surface scale is minimal. Hence it is easy to clinically think it is melanocytic.

The dermatoscopy shows a dark speckled lesion with spikules or dot like lesions in a pseudo network.
