Description: Pigmented area in a scar showing a multicomponent pattern with atypical pigment network and some globules.

History: This lesion recurred in a scar where a benign nevus had been incompletely excised. In shaved specimens they are thought to arise from melanocytes or nevus cells down hair follicles. However always check the original histopathology to ensure the diagnosis was correct. In benign recurrences the pigment usually does not extend beyond the scar margins.
